According to statistics from the Ministry of Transport, as of October 29, 50,000 4G sites have been built. Of these, 41,000 sites are operational. The 4G saturation plan has installed approximately 5,000 sites. BSNL hopes to install 1 lakh 4G sites across the country.
A consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has completed BSNL’s 4G project. The work began in May last year and TCS has to provide instruments for BSNL’s 1 lakh 4G towers. Tejas Network, Telematics Development Center and ITI are also involved in this collaboration.
In particular, BSNL’s 4G network is completely designed, developed and implemented by Indian companies. However, BSNL’s 4G network is likely to cover the entire country next year. There is also news that the 4G network will be upgraded to 5G within one month of launch.
The company has also started selling its 5G-enabled SIM cards. This SIM card was unveiled at the recently held India Mobile Conference (IMC 2024). The company then offers a SIM card with 45 days validity, unlimited calling and 2 GB daily data for Rs 250.
