Google Pixel 9a will be equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera along with Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Google is expected to launch its next-generation mid-range smartphone, Google Pixel 9a, in early 2025. Recent news claimed that the upcoming smartphone will come with significant camera upgrades. It is said that Pixel 9a has canceled the 64-megapixel main camera of the previous generation Pixel 8a and is equipped with a new main sensor. It is likely to retain the 13-megapixel selfie snapper of the previous model. It is expected to come with an “Add Me” feature. Let’s take a closer look at the Google Pixel 9a.

According to Android Headlines, Pixel 9a will be equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera. This appears to be a downgrade from the 64-megapixel main camera on the Pixel 7a and Pixel 8a, but the main camera on the Pixel 9a is said to be the same as the 48-megapixel camera on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The new main camera with a wider aperture delivers better-looking photos, albeit with lower resolution.

The report further claims that the Pixel 9a will feature a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera like the previous model. It will allegedly get Google’s new “Add Me” camera feature that came with the Pixel 9 series earlier this year. This AI-based feature allows users to click group photos.

Google Pixel 9a specifications

The Google Pixel 9a is expected to launch earlier than usual next year, with pre-orders starting in March 2025. The upcoming model will reportedly be slightly taller and wider than the Pixel 8a. In terms of dimensions, its length is 154.7 mm, width is 73.2 mm, and thickness is 8.9 mm. The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display and may have a flat camera module on the back. According to previous leaks, Google Pixel 9a will be available in porcelain (white), iris (blue-purple), obsidian (black) and peony (pink). The smartphone is expected to run Android 15. The smartphone is likely to be powered by a Tensor G4 processor. Google will allegedly provide seven years of Android upgrades for new phones.
