Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Mobile Congress (IMC) on Tuesday. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi gave information about many achievements in mobile network connectivity, broadband usage and optical fiber network expansion. Along with big telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, many technology related companies like Xiaomi and Qualcomm are also participating in this year’s IMC.

Prime Minister Modi said that there are about 1.2 billion mobile users in the country and more than 95 crore Internet There are users. India’s share in global real-time digital transactions is more than 40 percent. He said, “India is the leader in the world in terms of data affordability. The cost of data per GB is only Rs 12. In many countries this cost is 10-12 times higher.” He said that 5G network coverage has been done in all the districts of the country. Optical fiber networks have grown rapidly in the last 10 years. Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the increase in manufacturing of smartphones in the country. He told that efforts are being made to make completely ‘Made-in-India’ smartphones and this also includes components like processors.

Sunil Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, highlighted Airtel’s recently launched anti-spam technology. Its purpose is to protect users from fake messages and block calls from scammers. “We are working closely with the industry and the telecom department to ensure that users are safe while using these networks and services,” he said.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) promoter Kumar Mangalam Birla said that the debt-laden telecom company has started the capital expenditure cycle with the follow-on public offer (FPO). He told that Vi has received bids worth about Rs 90,000 crore. With this it will be able to make new deals with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung. “We are helping more than 1.6 lakh MSMEs break barriers and reach new markets through 5G, AI, IoT and cloud technologies,” he said. The financial condition of this telecom company has deteriorated in the last few years.
