Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya filed his nomination from Worli assembly seat on Thursday.
In Maharashtra, the issue of seat distribution is bogged down between the Congress party comprising the Shiv Sena (Uddhav), NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). A day earlier, all three parties announced they were competing for 85-85 seats. On Thursday, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said his party will contest from 100 seats.
After Rath’s statement, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said all was well with the alliance. Final seat allocations will be announced Thursday evening or Friday morning. The party has asked some candidates certain to get tickets for the Nov. 20 election to submit nomination papers in advance.
The Maharashtra Assembly will hold elections for 288 seats on November 20. On October 23, the three MVA parties decided to compete for 85 seats each, and negotiations for the remaining seats will continue. A day later, Shiv Sena Uddhav MP Sanjay Raut said some seats may be swapped among the allies. Shiv Sena will contest elections to 100 seats.
