Today, the day of Chhoti Diwali, October 29, the Sensex was trading at 79,979 points, down about 390 points. Nifty fell 111 points and was trading at 24,355 points.

Of the 30 stocks in the Sensex, 17 fell and 13 rose. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 26 fell and 24 rose. The biggest decliners in the NSE industrial index were financial services stocks. They were down about 1.36%.

Asian Market Mixed Business

  • In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei rose 1.25%. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.70%, and China’s Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.14%.
  • Afcons Infrastructure Ltd’s IPO was subscribed 2.77 times on the last day of bidding. The company’s shares will be listed on BSE-NSE on November 4.
  • On October 29, the US Dow Jones Index fell 0.36% to close at 42,233.05 points; the S&P 500 Index rose 0.16% to 5,832.92 points. The Nasdaq rose 0.78% to 18,712.75 points.
  • Foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 16,057.19 crore on October 29, according to NSE data. Domestic investors (DIIs) purchased shares worth Rs 12,823.77 million during the period.

The market was bullish yesterday Yesterday, on Dhanteras (October 29), the Sensex recovered 948 points from the day’s low of 79,421 points. It closed at 80,369 points after the bell, up 363 points. Nifty also recovered 326 points from the day’s low of 24,140 points and closed at 24,466 points, up 127 points.

Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 17 advanced and 13 declined. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 31 rose and 18 fell. One share was unchanged. Financial services stocks on the NSE were among the top gainers.

Afcons Infrastructure IPO subscribed 2.73 times on last day Yesterday, October 29, was the last day for bidding for the initial public offering of Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a company operating in the transportation, construction, oil and gas industries. As of 4 p.m., Afcons Infrastructure total subscriptions stood at 2.73 times. The company’s shares will be listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on November 4.
