Narendran is currently the Global ECO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, one of the world’s largest steel producers.

Thatchat Vishwanath Narendran, CEO of Tata Steel, has been elected chairman of the World Steel Association. Narendran will remain in the post till March 31 next year.

This is the second time that an Indian has been elected president of the World Steel Association. At the beginning of 2021, JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal led the organization.

Along with Narendran, two other board members were elected to the organization: Colakoglu Metallurgy AS Ugur Dalbeler and Nucor President and CEO Leon Topalian.

World Steel announced the information on its X handle on Tuesday (October 15). “worldsteel is pleased to welcome Thatchat Vishwanath Narendran, CEO of Tata Steel, and two other members,” the organization wrote.

Narendran has also joined the 15-member executive committee.

Narendran has also been included on worldsteel’s 15-member executive committee. Sajjan Jindal, ArcelorMittal and other senior officials from JFE and Posco attended the event.

The organization includes more than 160 steel producers, national and regional steel associations and steel research institutions. The organization is a platform for long-term cooperation and knowledge sharing within the steel industry.

Narendran joined Tata Steel in 1988

Narendran joined Tata Steel in 1988. At Tata Steel, Narendran served as Vice President, Safety and Flat Products and Managing Director (MD), Tata Steel India and South East Asia. He played a key role in the Tata Tiscon brand and distribution network.

Narendran is a Mechanical Engineering and MBA graduate from NIT Tiruchirappalli.

Narendran is currently the Global ECO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, one of the world’s largest steel producers. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT) and received an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata.
